Using the Team Development Measures to Promote Learning about Teamwork

This workshop builds on the TDM for IPE workshop in Spring 2022 describing how CIPE uses the framework both to teach teamwork principles to learners, guide their self-reflection, and provide feedback to teams on their performance. Participants at that workshop requested time to consider how to incorporate the TDM for IPE into their curricula. Registrants will be provided materials from that first workshop and a planning worksheet to apply the TDM for IPE to their curricula. Discussion of selected plans during the workshop will providef feedback on curricular plans.

This experience allows you to gain knowledge about implicit bias, the stereotypes of professions, and the culture of teams, while practicing your facilitation and debriefing skills. Presenters will discuss the origin and growth of the St Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH)/WUSM Department of Pediatrics Taskforce on Teamwork and Cultural Competency (T2C2), an interprofessional working group tasked with creating specific, targeted, strategic interventions within SLCH with a goal of immediate, tangible results to advance a culture of teamwork and respect, improve cultural competency, and improve patient satisfaction by minimizing disparities in care. Discussion will center around the creation of initiatives around improving food access for families within the hospital and improving team communication and interprofessional respect.
